So, there's been a Christmas e-mail going around that I don't particularly like. I mean, there's nothing wrong with Christmas. I celebrate Christmas. But this e-mail was different.
Just a little disclaimer: I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone, this is just how I feel. And I really appreciate everyone who sent the e-mail to me. I just really didn't like how the poem expressed its Christmas cheer... It wasn't very cheerful, to be honest. And not even very Christmas-y. It was just... not very considerate of others. And I try to be a very tolerant person.

So me and Alyssa wrote this poem. It kinda doesn't make a lot of sense and lacks a good intro, but... Oh well! We wrote it together on MSN and decided to post our opinions on Blogger.

As we part our ways you'll hear, "Happy Holidays!"
because it's the correct way to say
everyone's celebrations
without...hyperventalations?
We're two slick cats
(with santa hats)
even though we celebrate Hanukkah
with our mamas 'cause
we are open-minded
and not blinded
by what you think the holiday's really about.
Be not concerned with what you shout out
because it's the giving season.
We don't need a reason
to worry about religion
because I don't care a smidgen.
So let us try to be jolly
and avoid all this folly!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year,
let's give it some good old holiday cheer!
(Oh, and Happy Ramadan and Kwanzaa, too!
I'm sorry I forgot you!)

---

And then I wrote one! It doesn't compare with our first one (which was mostly by Alyssa), but it's what I think...

In the month of December, what all do we hear?
We hear of Santa, and presents, and flying reindeer!
We hear lots about Christmas, but not a word about Kwanzaa,
no “Hip, hip, hooray! And have a happy Hanukkah!”
There is more to remember in this twelfth month of the year
than fighting our way to the last open cashier.
So wrapped up are we in our Christian ways,
did we forget to care on AIDS awareness day?
(which is December 1st, by the way)
Millions of birthdays get covered up
by the fuss we all make of the holiday rush.
Shouting “Merry Christmas!” pleases a few,
but what about the Muslims, Buddhists, and Jews?
“Happy Holidays!” pleases the world,
so shout it out loud, all you boys and girls!

And that is all I have to say on that matter.

LOL, I hate you. Your poem is so much better.

I sent it to you. Sorry. :(

But I totally agree with you! This is why I love my uncle who works for the ACLU - he tries to make everything equal for everyone. :D

...I mainly liked that email because it rhymed...
    ^-^"

The simplicity of the mind of a child is amusing, is it not?

I should have known Michelle. :P
Though it did do a pretty good job rhyming. ;o
